( Refer to the maintenance precaution. )
It is not necessary to check the battery electrolyte level or add distilled water as the battery is a maintenance-free ( sealed ) type. If your battery seems weak and / or is leaking electrolyte ( causing hard staring or other electrical troubles ) , contact your authorized Honda dealer.
Removal:
- Remove the right side cover by removing the screw.
- Remove the bolt (1).
- Unhook the positive ( + ) terminal lead from the hook (2).
- Press on the locking tabs (3) and open the battery case cover (4).
- Pull out the battery (5).
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the negative ( – ) terminal lead (6) from the battery.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the positive ( + ) terminal lead (7) from the battery.
- Remove the battery.
Installation:
Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

If the motorcycle is perated with insuffcient battery eloctrolyte, sulfation and battery plate damage will occur. If rapid loss of electrolyte is experienced, or if your battery seems to be weak, causing slow starting or other electrical problems, see your authorized Honda dealer.
Battery electrolyte:
The battery is behind the right side cover. Remove the right side cover. Check the electrolyte level with the motorcycle in an upright position on level ground. The electrolyte level must be maintained between the UPPER (1) and LOWER (2) LEVEL marks on the side of the battery. If the electrolyte level is low, remove the bolt and open the battery holder. Pull out the battery. Remove the battery filler caps (3). Carefully add distilled water to the UPPER LEVEL mark, using a small syringe or plastic funnel.
